Defelice - Black River Preserve:
11.8 Acres located along the Black River, north of the Boot’s Satterlee Black River Preserve.  Donated in 1997.

The Defelice-Black River Preserve includes 700 feet of river frontage located within the 100-year floodplain. The Preserve is a dense riparian scrub-shrub wetland. Soils are almost entirely Semiahmoo muck. This property is part of a system of some of the highest quality wetlands in low-elevation western Washington and supports a wide diversity of flora and fauna. It is one of the least altered riparian systems in the North Puget Trough.

The frog does not
Drink up
The pond in which
He lives.

American Indian Proverb, quoted in David Zwick
