Springer Lake Preserve:
40 Acres
located in southern Thurston County.
Donated in 1998.

The property consists of two non-adjacent parcels surrounded by a large-lot residential development. Springer Lake, a five-acre freshwater pond containing a 1/4 acre sphagnum bog community, is located in the center of a 25 acre parcel. There is an additional two-acre depressional wetland near the lake and other freshwater wetlands that extend off of the parcel to the southeast. Amphibians consist of salamanders, newts and frogs. A second, 15 acre parcel, is hydrologically connected to Springer Lake and consists primarily of impacted wetland as a result of former grazing.

Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed.

Mohandas K. Gandhi
