Support Our Work

Capitol Land Trust relies on its members and volunteers to succeed in permanently conserving essential natural areas and working lands in Mason, Thurston and Grays Harbor Counties.  For every $200 we receive from individuals and businesses we are able to conserve approximately one acre of land.

Consider this:

  • By 2025, more people will live in Thurston and Mason Counties region than currently live in Miami , Florida or Cleveland , Ohio .
  • More than 70% of Puget Sound ’s estuaries, once among the most productive living systems on earth, are no longer functional.
  • In Thurston County alone, more than 32,000 acres of forests, farms and prairies were converted to residential use during the past 15 years. This is an area more than half the size of Seattle (53,718 acres).

This area is one of the fastest growing regions of the country and changes to the landscape that will affect our quality of life forever are rapidly taking place.  Growth and development are inevitable.  If we are to maintain a high quality of life, a healthy, functioning ecosystem and a vital economy, strategic conservation of important natural areas and working lands is critical. You can help us do this!

The long fight to save wild beauty represents democracy at its best.  It requires citizens to practice the hardest of virtues -- self-restraint.
